The defects patent offices object to most
Poor line quality
Lines too thin, grey or rough to reproduce, redrawn black and uniform.
Margins and sheet size
Figures moved inside the sight area on A4 or Letter sheets.
Reference characters
Missing, duplicated or undersized numerals corrected to match the specification.
Figure and sheet labels
FIG. labels and sheet numbering such as 1/3 placed where the rules require.
Shading and hatching
Shading that hides detail removed or redrawn; section hatching made consistent.
Informal drawings
Photos, sketches and screenshots converted into formal drawings.
The rules we draw to
Most drawing objections come from small things: a margin a few millimetres short, lines too faint to reproduce, a numeral missing from one view. We check every sheet against these rules.
